How to Make the Most of Your Spotify Artist Profile

from Horus Music

Spotify artists’ profiles can sometimes be overlooked, with artists favouring their social media profiles to draw in new listeners. But a well-designed Artist profile can help new listeners find and engage with your music.

It can often leave artists wondering if they’re making the most of their Spotify profiles. There are multiple ways that you can optimise your profile to help you stand out from the crowd and gain more Spotify followers.

Our team has put together their top tips for making the most of your Spotify profile.

Claim Your Artist Profile Through Spotify For Artists

Did you know as an artist on Spotify, you can claim a profile on the platform. To do this you need to head over to Spotify for Artists, click ‘get access’ and then you should be able to search for your profile.

Once your request has been accepted you’ll get access to editing your profile and audience data.

Note: For Artists releasing music for the first time, they wouldn’t be able to claim their profile until after their first release goes live. However, at Horus Music, we can collect the profile link for artists in advance of their debut release. Add a contact us here.

Personalise your profile

Spotify for artists gives you the opportunity to add personalisation to your profile. Including adding photos, links to your social media, merchandise, an artist biography, and any playlists you’ve curated.

Through your artist’s bio,  you’ll want to share your journey as an artist, including key career milestones and achievements, while showing off who you are as a person.

Don’t forget when you’re choosing your profile picture, remember to choose something that is going to grab a user’s attention. More often than not, a user will go through a list of artists and will click on a profile that they find eye-catching or intriguing. If you’re struggling with what you use, consider what would make YOU click through.

When you’re personalising your profile try and fill out all the information, including the label you’re signed to (if you are signed), what genre your music falls under, and utilise the ‘Artists Pick’ although this should be updated regularly.

This is where artists can use this feature to highlight particular songs, gigs, or albums. These in turn will appear at the top of your profile and are a brilliant way of engaging with your audience.

Have any live shows coming up?

Spotify gives you a space to add your tour dates or festival shows to your profile. This is a great way of connecting with your listeners in real life.

According to Spotify, adding events to profiles has led to a 15% increase in concert ticket sales.

Playlists

As with listener profiles, artists can create and share their own playlists. These are curated by the artist and can showcase what they want. For example, they could be music from other artists that have inspired them and their creative process.

As with your profile, your playlist is customisable. This means you can add your own branding to the playlist cover, a lot of artists have started creating custom graphics to make them stand out and eye-catching.

Creating your own playlists will allow you to connect with your listeners, and grow your listenership. There’s always the chance that someone will come across your playlist before they find your music.

Data is valuable

Looking into the data and profile insights doesn’t have to be intimidating. Using your artist profile you are able to see who is listening to your music. What playlists you’re featured on, and which ones are driving new listeners.

Using the data collected, you can decide on what cities and countries you should schedule shows in, you can also use this to find out which tracks are resonating with your listeners.

Sell Merch Through Spotify for Artists

Through your Spotify for Aritsts profile, you are able to sell your music and merch through Shopify. This integration allows you to showcase what merch you have available throughout a Spotify listeners listening experience.

This feature also allows artists to pin priority merch, this places selected merch at the top of the merch tab, not only this, artists can select items to feature as their ‘Artists Pick’.

With each item an artist lists, they are able to add tags to the relevant releases. This will make your merch appear on album and single release pages, and within the ‘Now Playing’ view.

Once you’ve personalised your Spotify profile and it looks inviting to new fans, it’s now time to share your profile with the world.

If you’re struggling to find the link to your profile, follow these steps.:

  1. Go to your profile.
  2. Click the three dots (or right click on the desk top name).
  3. Select ‘Share’ then ‘Copy Link’ or ‘ Copy Profile Link’.

Artists can utilise linktrees to add their Spotify links to their social media profiles. This will give both new and existing listeners a quick way to find your music. As a result, this will boost traffic to your Spotify profiles and more listeners to your music.

Not only can this be added to your social media profiles, but it can also be added to your website, newsletter, and QR codes to posters.
