Live Music Industry News: AEG expands Int’l • Live Music Survey • Bookclub opens in Chicago

In the latest live music industry news, AEG announced a realignment of its international business divisions as part of an effort to expand in major international markets.

Adam Wilkes will takeover AEG Presents’ regional operations in Asia-Pacific and Europe, in the new position of president and CEO of AEG Presents, Europe and Asia-Pacific. He will also oversee AEG Presents’ European regional offices and will relocate from Singapore to London later this year.

Alex Hill will assume leadership of all of AEG’s global real estate and venue operations outside of the United States, in the new position of President and CEO, AEG International.

He will remain in London and continue to oversee AEG’s European sports teams as well as its venue and real estate portfolio, including The O2 in London and German properties in Berlin and Hamburg and in the Asia Pacific and other international regions outside the United States.

Live Music Society + NIVA’s State of Live Survey

Live Music Society, the nonprofit organization that has awarded more than $4 million in grants to small venues and listening rooms across the United States since 2020, has partnered with the National Independent Venue Association (NIVA) on their comprehensive State of Live survey.

This landmark national economic study of the independent live entertainment sector aims to assess the economic impact, value, and vulnerabilities within the independent live music sector. Live Music Society’s involvement will bring critical insights into the challenges and opportunities specific to small venues, with funding to support an expanded focus resulting in a dedicated report on the sector. T

The survey, open until February 18, features detailed and anonymous questions designed to gather valuable data from venue operators, promoters, and other stakeholders. Insights from the survey will provide a clearer picture of the economic value of the independent live music sector and the vulnerabilities it faces. Bookclub Opens in Chicago

Bookclub, which they are calling the country’s “first licensed music venue and bar that is owned by Gen Z & Millennials who are Black, Queer, and Women” just opened up in Chicago as “venue for all genres and all generations of concertgoers.”
