SoundCloud Artist subscriptions get much more affordable

Money is almost always tight for most musicians, and SoundCloud has launched an affordable yet robust Artist subscription tier that acknowledges that.

SoundCloud Artist subscriptions get much more affordable

SoundCloud has added a $3.25 per month/$39 per year subscription called Artist designed to bridge the gap between its free Basic plan and the $8.25 per month Artist Pro (formerly Next PRO) plan.

Now global, the Artist plan was piloted in New Zealand, Australia, and Canada, with promising results.

With the Artist plan musicians can:

  • Upload: Upload unlimited tracks within a total content limit of three hours.
  • Distribute: Distribute 2 tracks per month to SoundCloud, Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, TikTok, and over 60 other platforms.
  • Monetize: Get 100% of royalties from plays on SoundCloud, and get paid for your streams on other platforms as well. [It’s always bothered me a bit that Artists have to pay SoundCloud for plays on SoundCloud, but that’s another story…]
  • Get Promoted and Playlisted: Our algorithm helps get your music in front of the right listeners—up to 100 or even 1,000 fans most likely to love your sound. And your best performing tracks can get amplified on fan-powered playlists like Buzzing to reach future fans, A&Rs, and more.
  • Master: Get one professional mastering credit per month to ensure your tracks sound polished and ready for release.
  • Replace Tracks: Swap out tracks 3 times per month to improve your music without losing the plays, likes, or comments you’ve already earned.

SoundCloud Artist vs Artist Pro Plans

“At SoundCloud, we believe great music can come from anywhere, and it shouldn’t be held back by cost or complexity,” said Eliah Seton, CEO of SoundCloud. “That’s why we created the Artist plan—to provide emerging musicians with pro-level tools and distribution at an affordable price. As the only creator platform in music that directly connects artists with fans, we’re making it even easier for artists to get heard. Whether you’re just starting out or taking the next step, SoundCloud is here to help artists reach their full potential and connect with fans ready to listen.”
