Play For The Vote seeks 5,000 Musicians to perform at Polls on Election Day
Non-partisan Play For The Vote is enlisting 5000 musicians to perform at polls on Election Day Tuesday November 5th.
Musicians who sign up for Play For The Vote will play outside 2200 polling places across the country. 1000s of professional musicians, touring artists, music professors, local music teachers, and students have already pledged to perform.
“Play for the Vote stems from the idea that voting could be a way for communities to come together through the power of music, as opposed to being a divisive process,” said Play For The Vote Founder and Director Mike Block.
Block, a cellist, will preform with members of the Grammy-winning ensemble, Silkroad Ensemble on Election Day at the Chicago City Loop Super Voting Site.
Play For The Vote launched in 2020 and despite COVID mobilized 1,500 musicians to perform at 700 polling places nationwide. Now they are working to double that number.
Musicians who want to perform at polls on Election Day should sign up on the Play For The Vote website to claim a polling location and performance time.
