Bandcamp Friday is back after $120M in commission free sales
Bandcamp Friday returns this Friday, September 6th, with two more of the popular promotions schedule before the end of the year.
Bandcamp Friday returns
At the start of the Covid-19 pandemic in March of 2020 when closed venues meant the loss of revenue for artists Bandcamp wanted to help. During these promotions Bandcamp waives its revenue share and passes the funds directly to artists and labels.
To date, fans have paid more than $120 million directly to labels and musicians on Bandcamp Fridays. The day also became a time for artists and labels to raise awareness and funds for charities.
Noise For Now raised money for voter’s rights and abortion access. “Bandcamp provided us with the ideal platform to maximize our fundraising impact,” says Amellia Bauer, Noise For Now Executive Director. “Released for 24 hours only on a Bandcamp Friday in 2022, the benefit compilation Good Music To Ensure Safe Abortion Access For raised $231,000 – all without platform fees. We are grateful to Bandcamp for being the most artist-friendly platform around,”
In addition to September 6th, there will be a Bandcamp Friday on October 4th and December 6th.
