Luminate acquires Artist ID database Quansic
Music and entertainment data provider Luminate, whose clients include Billboard and its popular Charts, has acquired Quansic, a global music artist identification service.
France-based Quansic says it has the world’s most prominent artist identification database, with over 2.5 million ISNIs (artist identifiers) and 200 million asset identifiers.
Luminate says the acquisition is part of its “continued efforts to unify data for the entertainment industry, and more specifically due to Quansic’s expertise in the harmonization of metadata across record labels, streaming platforms, song publishers, and artist services within the music ecosystem.”
Quansic’s team will join Luminate, remaining under founder and chief scientist FX Nuttall. Nuttall, who previously was part of the team at YouTube.
No details of the deal were released.
