9 Reasons Why Every Musician on Instagram should be active on Threads

Every musician and creator with almost any sized following on Instagram should sign up and be active on Meta and Instagram’s new Twitter-like social platform Threads.

Posts on Threads can be up to 500 characters long and include links, photos, and videos up to 5 minutes in length.

UPDATE: As of mid-day Thursday, 30 million had signed up for Threads, according to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

9 Reasons Why Every Musician on Instagram should be active on Threads

  1. Twitter is a mess, with 32 million or more leaving the platform. That number appears to be accelerating, and a new Pew Research report found that the most active Twitter users post 25% less per month.
  2. Threads is free. So far, at least, there is no Twitter Blue-like paid tier.
  3. Threads is easy. You log in using your Instagram account.
  4. Threads includes easy integrations with Instagram features that you are already using like Stories.
  5. Tap into your Instagram followers. When they first use the app, they are given the option to follow all or some of the accounts they follow on Instagram. That also means if you’re not on Threads now, you could be missing out on thousands of semi-automatic followers.
  6. You can be an early adopter, but one with a big potential audience looking for things to follow.
  7. 10 million people signed up for Threads in the first 7 hours, which is certain to multiply. Other Twitter rivals like Mastodon and Bluesky are growing but in the low millions of users each.
  8. Shakira, Jennifer Lopez, and Billboard are already live on Threads alongside the likes of Gary Vee, Oprah Winfrey, Kim Kardashian, HBO, NPR, and Netflix.
  9. Take your followers with you: While not part of the launch, Meta has committed to making Threads compatible with ActivityPub, which means that soon you’ll be able to take your followers of the platform to other compatible services, including Mastodon.

  1. I have a home-based business and make a respectable $60k per week, which is incredible given that a year ago I was unemployed due to a poor economy. I was given these instructions as a gift, and it is now nr02 my responsibility to spread kindness and make them available to everyone.
