Patreon alternative Fanfix says active creators earn $70,000 a year
New stats from Fanfix signal the fan engagement app’s arrival as a Patreon and Fanhouse alternative worthy of consideration.
First, the stats: Fanfix says that it has attracted more than 10 million fans following 3,000 creators earning an average annual income for active creators is $70,000. Fanfix says that it has paid $11 million to creators so far, with projections to reach $50 million by the end of 2023.
The Fanfix pitch to “monetize your following by creating clean, exclusive, behind-the-scenes content” is similar to other fan membership platforms. The same is true of its key monetization and engagement features, including monthly subscriptions, tipping, and analytics.
But what sets Fanfix apart is its focus on GenZ fans and creators. Like other platforms popular with that demo, Fanfix is mobile rather than web focused and anchored by a brought and sleek design.
Creators can set a subscription price between $5 per month and the maximum being $50, and influencers can earn via a “Tip-to-DM” message feature that allows fans to pay between $3 to $500 to chat privately with creators. Techcrunch reports that one-on-one calls, personalized videos, and livestreaming are all in development.
All of this does come at a cost. Fanfix takes 20% of every dollar earned, compared to Patreon’s 5-12% and Fanhouse’s 10% though Fanfix says that it offers a “premium service” without the hidden fees charged by its competitors.
