TikTok CEO warns of looming U.S. ban in new video
TokTok CEO Shou Zi Chew posted a video to the ByteDance subsidiary’s official TikTok account acknowledging the real possibility of a full ban and rallying the platform’s 150 million active U.S. users to help fight it.
Some politicians have started talking about banning TikTok,” said Chew while acknowledging the 150 million user milestone, the 5 million “mostly small” businesses that advertise on the platform, and its 7000 U.S. employees.
Chew testifies before Congress on Thursday, and the video and stats also seemed to be designed to remind politicians of the platform’s reach and the possible economic, social, and even political impacts if the app is banned.
