Is May 6th the last Bandcamp Friday ever?

Ever since March of 2020 Bandcamp has waived its revenue share on the first Friday of every month to help support artists who have seen their livelihoods disrupted by the pandemic.

So far more than 800,000 fans have paid artists and labels more than $73 million dollars.

But this Friday, May 6th, is the last publically announced Bandcamp Friday and the company has been silent about extending the promoion

Also, just two months ago Bandscamp, which means so much to the independent music community, was acquired by gaming behomuth Epic. While still operating as an indendednt company, Bandcamp likely now has revenue projections to meet.

There’s also the ticking time bomb of a major fee increase for transactions on Google Android. Set to go off on June 1st, Bandcamp and Epic were forced to go to cpourt this week to try to stop it.
