Tinder adds Festival Mode with help from Live Nation, AEG
Tinder has added Festival Mode, a feature to help users ;connect’ ahead of attending concerts and music festivals like Governors Ball, Stagecoach, EDC, Bonnaroo, and more.
Select events from concert promoters Live Nation, AEG Presents and Superstruct Entertainment will be included in the new Festival Mode feature found inside Tinder Explore.
The features is likely to be a hit with users based on a Tinder sponsored Harris survey:
- 1 in 3 singles are planning to attend a music festival or concert in 2022
- 64% said they enjoy meeting new people while at live music events
- more than 3 in 5 or 61% said they became friends someone they met at a concert
“Music is a universal language and the number-one interest among Tinder members worldwide. So many of our members are excited to jump back into in-person events. We wanted to build on that excitement and offer them a head start at meeting someone new ahead of one of the biggest festival seasons in years,” said Kyle Miller, VP of Product Innovation at Tinder. “Festival Mode gives you a chance to get yourself back out there, meet new people, and make friends before you hit the festival grounds. It’s a great, low-pressure way to make real-world connections again.”
Not everyone is happy about Tinder’s Festival Mode
“A lot of us are just now warming back up to the post-pandemic dating and festival scenes; now, you can conveniently combine both of those anxiety-inducing situations into one!,” wrote Abbey Jones in a piece for Consequence titled
“Tinder Reintroduces Festival Mode to Make Pandemic Dating Even Worse”.
