What ban? Morgan Wallen wins 3 Billboard Music Awards…
Morgan Wallen has won three Billboard Music Awards despite much of the music industry promising to ban the country star after he was caught on video using the n-word.
This weekend Billboard honored Morgan Wallen as the Top Country Artist, Top Country Male Artist, and for the Top Country Album for his sophomore release “Dangerous: The Double Album.”
His three wins were announced online, but not mentioned during the Award’s television broadcast.
CMA takes a different approach
Just last week, the Country Music Association completely disqualified Wallen Wallen from top categories as entertainer of the year and male vocalist of the year.
The CMAs did keep Wallen’s eligibility in group categories.
In a statement, the CMA said that his 2021 CMA Awards eligibility will be limited to “categories that honor artistic works (Single, Song, Album, Musical Event, and Music Video of the Year categories), so as not to limit the opportunity for other credited collaborators. He will not be eligible for nomination in the individual artist categories (Entertainer and Male Vocalist of the Year categories).”
