Music Biz Weekly podcast co-hosts Michael Brandvold and Jay Gilbert vent their frustrations with the many, many, many scams aimed at musicians.

“We get emails every week pitching us on offers for playlist placement, streams, Instagram followers and more… there are all scams!,” say the two veteran music marketers. “But you need to be very careful as they attempt to pass themselves off as legit.”

“One recent offer for playlist placement came from “Spotify for Artists” and was using the Spotify logo,” they continue. “Spotify will NEVER ask for money to add you to a playlist… NEVER!”

Why is this happening and what could be done to stop it?
