Spotify Adds Instagram-Like Stories To Playlists

Spotify appears to have decided that we just can’t get enough Stories. The music streamer is openly testing a new Snapchat and Instagram-like Stories feature alongside playlists.

YouTube, Twitter, and LinkedIn have all also launched their own Stories-like features.

On the Spotify Christmas Hits playlist story, artists including Jennifer Lopez, Kelly Clarkson, and Pentatonix share anecdotes about the season in short video clips. Stories have also been added to the Tear Drop emo-rap playlist and a playlist of Megan Thee Stallion’s album Good News.

Stories are accessed via an icon on the top left of each supported playlist. “Tapping it reveals an interface that’ll be familiar to anyone who’s ever watched an Instagram or Snapchat story,” says The Verge, “allowing you to tap on the left or right of the screen to skip through a collection of short video clips.”
