Don’t Miss Out: 37.5M Will Stream Video On Twitch In 2020
An estimated 37.5 million people in the US will watch streaming video on Amazon-owned Twitch at least monthly in 2020, according to eMarketer.
That’s 15.5% of US digital video viewers this year.
“Twitch is by far the largest platform for streaming video game content, well ahead of YouTube, Mixer and Facebook Gaming,” said eMarketer forecasting analyst Peter Vahle. “As the pioneer in this space, Twitch has built a loyal and engaged audience by allowing viewers to directly interact with their favorite streamers.”
At its current pace, Twitch will surpass 40 million US users by the end of 2021.
With stats like that, musicians and music marketers who ignore Twitch risk missing a major new opportunity to connect with new fans.
While Twitch is often thought of exclusively as territory for gamers to watch other gamers, the platform also has a lively arts community, of which music is a large part.
