Vinyl records have become a fan favorite as well as a significant income stream for many artists. But vinyl records are expensive and can take many weeks to produce. Discmakers CEO Tony Van Veen explains why in this short video.
Why is it that back in 1979 a brand new copy of Fleetwood Mac’s “Tusk” for 2 LPs cost $14? Today most single LP records bought as brand new cost $18 to $25+ ???? Back in the old days brand single LP records sold in the budget bin for $4 while a new release single LP was $8. As a consumer I purposely avoid buying new vinyl and instead look for used vinyl which is often cheaper. Plus being old, I have most of the classic vinyl LPs in my collection already. And there is always CD and MP3. I hate streaming.
There wasn’t much corporate greed until after the election of Reagan. After that prices skyrocketed for everything.
