National Album Day To Return In 2019
Following the success of the inaugural UK based National Album Day last year, the event, focused on celebrating everything LP, will return in 2019. Set to take place on October 12th, National Album day will feature the theme ‘Don’t Skip’ and explore the “benefits of taking time out to listen to an album from start to finish.”
National Album Day 2019 will feature four albums from contemporary recording artists:
- Lewis Capaldi – No.1 artist and BRITs Critics Choice nominee
- Mahalia – BRIT Awards nominated
- Elbow – Mercury Prize-winning band
- Mark Ronson – International Musician/ Producer and Grammy, BRIT and Academy Award recipient
As well, the week leading up to October 12th will include a series of events and activities across the UK, with details about those events still to be announced.
Except it’s not really National Album Day. Calling it that generates much free advertising and publicity for the labels who own these very few artists – such as this news item. The BRITS and Mercury prizes are just the same.
