Siri To Control Spotify, Pandora, Other Streaming Apps
Apple has included Siri support for Spotify, Pandora and other third-party music and media apps in the upcoming iOS 13. A new developer tool, SiriKit for Audio, now makes it possible for iOS audio app developers to integrate Siri’s search and play feature.
Apple currently puts severe limits on Siri’s capabilities in third-party apps. Those limits were part of the reason that Spotify filed a complaint with the European Commission against Apple in March.
The EU studied the complaint and surveyed customers, rivals and others in the industry, which prompted the launch of a formal investigation in May. No deadline for the investigation has been set and it could reportedly could take years.
