Avengers Muscles Past $1.6B After Monster China Debut

image from celebrityaccess.comFor the third straight week, Disney and-Marvel’s ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ dominated worldwide box office receipts, with the film earning a whopping $343.1M worldwide over the weekend, according to comScore.

The “Avengers” weekend’s take was bolstered by estimated $200 million from the movie’s debut in China, helping to propel the film’s worldwide cumulative box office north of $1.6 bn, and making it the 5th highest grossing film of all time.

Following up in second place was Warner Bros. “Life Of The Party” which earned $21.4M against it’s estimated production budget of $30 million. The film stars Melissa McCarthy, Molly Gordon, Gillian Jacobs, Maya Rudolph, and was written by McCarthy and Ben Falcone, who also directed the project.

Rounding out the top three for worldwide box office revenue was Lionsgate Film’s “Overboard” a romantic comedy Rob Greenberg, and starring Eugenio Derbez, Anna Faris, Eva Longoria, John Hannah and Swoosie Kurtz. With an estimated production budget of $12 million, the film generated $18.3m worldwide this weekend, with a worldwide cume of more than $40 million since its opening on May 4th.
