Following the Friday release of Ed Sheeran’s new album ÷ (‘divide’), he smashed streaming records and stormed the global charts, including almost doubling the previous first day Spotify album streams for an artist. Sheeran is currently the most streamed artist there, with over 45.5m monthly listeners. More stats:

- Best First Day streams for an Album 56,727,861 streams, almost doubling the record set by the previous record holder, The Weeknd’s Starboy, with 29m streams in November 2016
- Best One Day streams for a track: Shape of You: 10,123,630 streams (breaking his own record of 7,940,950 set on January 6th 2017)
- Best One Day streams for an Artist: 68,695,172 streams (smashing the previous record holder The Weeknd with 40.3m streams in November 2016)
