Alongside $10 million in new funding, Songkick shared that its sales of tickets in Europe had tripled in the last six months. The increase comes in part from its June merger with direct to fan ticketer CrowdSurge. But new fan ticketing partnerships with major artists including Adele, Kenny Chesney, J Cole, Jess Glynne, Metallica, Mumford & Sons, Stereophonics and Jamie xx also help drive strong growth.
Working with Songkick, Adele sold over 165,000 tickets for her UK and European tour directly to fans and added 500,000 hopeful ticket purchasers to her email list. In the UK, Adele sold 40% of all available tickets direct to fans, using Songkick's technology to identify and stop 18,000+ known and likely purchases by ticket resellers.
Reportedly, less than 2% of Adele tickets ended up on the secondary market, and an analysis by Media Insight Consulting concluded that the direct to fan sale resulted in Adele saving fans nearly $6.5 million in the UK.
