MIDEM 2016 To Have International Focus
Music industry convention MIDEM will celebrate its 50th anniversary with an international focus.Taking place in Cannes, France, on June 3-6, the international dimension of the music ecosystem will be at the core of next year’s event, and will act as the central theme of 2016 conference program.
It will examine how the music industry needs to build development strategies with a cross-border perspective and encompass best practices in digital, marketing, and monetization from all around the world.
The conference program will also include case studies on new opportunities in the global music sector, debates on copyright reforms in the US and in Europe, and other emerging trends worldwide. MIDEM will offer new tools to its existing matchmaking program, including individual support to help delegates set up key business meetings in Cannes.
“This new, personalised recommendation service is designed to ensure that MIDEM participants reap the maximum benefits from attending the event,” said Jérôme Delhaye, director of the entertainment division at Reed MIDEM, organizer of MIDEM. “The MIDEM music community expects to discuss deals and develop business. In order to help delegates, Midem will identify and recommend potential meeting partners for companies to contact in order to set up face-to-face discussions."

As part of the MIDEM 50th edition celebrations, music executives from around the world will be honored at the inaugural International MIDEM Awards. This gala event will pay tribute to those who impact the music industry and will become a regular feature of future Midems.
The Midemlab and MIDEM Artist Accelerator competitions will also continue to provide unique showcases for startups operating in the music ecosystem and artists seeking to take national success to an international level. Winners of the two competitions will be honored during the International MIDEM Awards.
