Ticketfly Acquires Northern Tickets, Passes $1 Billion In Sales
Ticketfly is among a handful of companies threatening Ticketmaster's dominance. Today they took the fight north of the border, acquiring Northern Tickets.
Independent ticketer Ticketfly has acquired Northern Tickets, the in-house ticketing service of The MRG Group, which owns, and operates music venues, events and restaurants across Canada.
The company also announced that in 2014, Ticketfly reached $1 billion in cumulative gross ticket sales since selling its first ticket in 2009 – $500 million of which was processed in 2014. That's 42% percent year-over-year growth.
This deal accelerates Ticketfly’s North American growth, adding several prestigious Canadian venues including the Vogue Theatre, a historic 1300-cap room in Vancouver; the new Adelaide Hall, a 500-cap room in Toronto; and the Vancouver International Jazz Festival, which attracts nearly half a million visitors yearly.
