Streaming Music Income Is Greater Than Downloads In 24 Territories

up arrowdIncome from streaming music has passed downloads in 24 countries, according to a new study by independent music conglomerate [PIAS]. Increasingly, that trend is extending to key music markets.

France is a prime example – it overtook downloads last year – while in markets like Spain and the Netherlands this has been the case for a couple of years now," according to PIAS operations manager James Howdle.

In 2013, streaming income exceed downloads in 11 markets, but by 2014 it was 24

"If streaming continues to grow at this rate in 2015, it would double to 50%, making streaming the dominant digital format over iTunes and other download services in one of the world’s biggest markets," says Howdle
