Robomagic: Ex-AEG Exec Launches Next-Gen Live Touring Company
Rob Hallett, former head of AEG Live's UK operation, has returned to the music business as the head of a new venture, Robomagic. According to Music Week, Hallett bills Robomagic as a multi-faceted "360" company, focused on the live sector. While Hallett described it as a boutique, Hallett says the firm has the financial backing to compete with larger players in the market, including Live Nation and AEG.
"The size of the financial backing I’ve got enables me to compete with Live Nation and AEG Live at their own game and pay similar advances,” Hallett told Music Week. “I can buy global tours and I intend to maintain as many of the relationships that I’m known for as possible.”
According to Hallett, Robomagic will also seek to close "360 deals" with artists and through ‘Robomagic Capital’ which, like a bank, will support developing artists, their brands and businesses.
“The desire to make the lives of both established and aspiring artists much fairer and more equitable is at the heart of the company,” Hallett added. “We can be nimble in an industry notoriously encumbered by bureaucracy and, most importantly deliver an excellent deal."
An industry veteran with long experience producing live entertainment, Hallett founded AEG Live's UK operation and oversaw it until his departure from the firm in April, 2014.
