Imogen Heap Documentary Produced Using Only Social Media & Digital Data
Modern has accounced the release of an innovative documentary entitled 'Cumulus' featuring Imogen Heap and her fans. The experimental short film is, as described by Modern, is "an investigation of the how our personas evolve and develop in the digital space through shared and repurposed content." Imogen constantly experiments with unqiue ways to engage with her fans on social media and innovative technology. Following her creative life was both a thrill for a producers and a perfect fit for the documentary.
The project was commissioned by the Reel Lives research project at University of Birmingham, UK. It focuses intently on Grammy award winning musician & singer-songwriter, Imogen Heap and was directed by digital creative, independent film maker Christopher Ian Smith. The animated, multi-screen, documentary looks through the lens of evolutionary psychology by illustrating and examining how digital interaction transforms our digital personas.
"Covering an eight year period, the film takes viewers on a journey through Imogen’s creative life, exploring her digital innovations (including the wearable technology she developed – the MI.MU gloves). It also follows the unique relationship she has with her fans and the direct interaction with her fan base through social media to influence the creation of music and live performances."
Cumulus will be strategically released at key film and digital art festivals prior to being available to the public on Vimeo.
