AT&T Drops Beats Music Subscriptions Sales
Much was made when Beats Music announced a deal with AT&T for the telecom giant to market and bill the then fledgling music subscription service. Fast forward about 10 months and a $3+ billion Beats purchase by Apple and the AT&T deal is no more.
Current AT&T Beats Music subscribers are unaffected. MacRumors, who first spotted the change, got this comment from AT&T:
"There haven’t been any changes for AT&T customers who currently have the Beats Music family plan or who are within their free trial period. New subscribers can still get Beats Music through their app store or atbeatsmusic.com."
Its unclear which side triggered the shift, but its likely part of Apple's stated plan to revamp and relaunch Beats Music. Observers expect Apple's new music plans to be unveiled using the same forum that Beats favored – the Grammy Awards in February.
