Vevo Says They’ll Play Many Independent Music Videos Deleted By YouTube
YouTube says they're going to start pulling down videos from indie artists and labels refusing to sign on to its yet-to-launch paid streaming music service. But Vevo, the largest single music channel on YouTube, says it will continue to make videos available there from the many independents labels that it distributes.
“To clarify, music videos from the indie labels and distributed by Vevo on YouTube will not be taken down,” a spokesperson from Vevo told TechCrunch.
We're also hearing that many independent music distributors like The Orchard have signed their YouTube deal. So those videos are "safe" unless the artist or label opts out.
