YouTube Music Subscription Music Service To Launch This Summer [REPORT]
The long rumored YouTube music subscription service will launch this summer, according to a new report. It will launch trhough Google's Music Pass on Android, according to the NY Post, and with YouTube's massive 1 billion user base will instantly become a formidable competitor.
YouTube's Music Pass is expected to charge $5 for an ad supported service and $10 for ad free.
iTunes is also planning a similar offering. “Apple is further along than people are thinking,” said The Post's industry source. “They have technology in place and can flip the switch at any time.”
How will this service affect independent label videos?
Apple might be “further along than people are thinking” but I don’t see them catching up with their Mountain View neighbor any time soon.
