Rdio Sessions To Record Live Acts At SXSW 2014
Rdio Sessions is a fairly new recording series from Rdio featuring live performances in intimate settings that are then available for streaming. Rdio is taking Sessions to SXSW and will be recording live shows from 7 different acts in almost as many genres. It's a nice way to support artists while creating unique content for Rdio listeners.
I'm just finding out about Rdio Sessions which launched in the fall with its own playlist featuring the first crop of featured artists.
Now Rdio Sessions is hitting the road to SXSW to record live shows by the following artists:
Lucius – "Berklee College of Music voice majors Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig make up the Brooklyn-based indie pop quintet Lucius."
Ty Dolla $ign – "Ty is a Los Angeles-based singer, rapper, songwriter, producer and multi- instrumentalist."
David Nail – "Born and raised in Kennett, Missouri, David is a country singer songwriter with recent the hit single, "Whatever She's Got" which made it to Billboard's country airplay number one spot."
Bad Suns – "Comprising vocalist Christo Bowman, drummer Miles Morris, guitarist Ray Libby, and bassist Gavin Bennett, Bad Suns formed in 2012 in Woodland Hills, California."
Haerts – "The long-distance collaborative project Haerts came into formation when childhood friends Nini Fabi and Ben Gebert started working on music together in a small apartment in the Greenpoint neighborhood of Brooklyn."
Tensnake – "The electro producer Tensnake from Hamburg, Germany recently released the single "Love Sublime" featuring Nile Rodgers of Chic and known for his work with Daft Punk."
Strange Talk – "An Australian synthpop band from Melbourne, Victoria, Strange Talk consists of Gerard Sidhu, Stephen Docker, Travis Constable and Gillan Gregory. The band will be releasing their debut album Cast Away in 2014."
And, yes, there's a Rdio Sessions + SXSW 2014 playlist currently populated by singles from the above artists.
