Get Warmed Up For SXSW Music 2014 With Free Playlists and Mixes
SXSW 2014 kicks off tomorrow with SXSW Music beginning Tuesday the 11th. If you're planning to check out a bunch of new acts you haven't heard before, there are plenty of options for discovery or for just getting in the mood. From SXSW's YouTube playlist to NPR's 100 artist sampler to a myriad of Spotify playlists, here's more music than you can safely consume between now and then.
SXSW has an official YouTube playlist featuring a selection of music videos from SXSW 2014 Showcasing Artists:
Ron Pope – "Lick My Wounds": SXSW 2014 Showcasing Artist
I chose Ron Pope's video from the playlist because his recent article, "An Independent Artist's Take on Spotify ," caught some attention for its positive take on Spotify.
The Austin 100: A SXSW 2014 Mix
The Austin 100 is a six-hour sampler curated by NPR which you can stream or download.
The post includes the full list of songs with individual MP3 downloads available. Nice gift from the artists and NPR!
8tracks: Free SXSW 2014 Playlists
8tracks currently features 5 Free SXSW 2014 Playlists including 50 Artists to Watch at SXSW.
Spotify Playlists
F# Austin Music Playlist Generator
Spotify's really grabbed a lot of terrain with its playlists and many SXSW 2014 playlists rely on Spotify. For example, F# uses Spotify to power its Austin Music 2014 Playlist which allows you to select from specific genres for a playlist of artists appearing at SXSW.
RSVPster Roundup
RSVPster offers an interesting selection of options in Fest Sounds: The Best Spotify Playlists plus the Hippohonk SoundCloud playlist.
Deborah Sengupta Stith and Mostly Junk Food
Additional playlists worth noting include Deborah Sengupta Stith's SXSW Playlist Primer and Mostly Junk Food's Junkfoodies in Austin.
Please add a link to your SXSW 2014 playlist in the comments.
