Virgin Records Launches Innovative iPad App: 40 Years Of Disruptions
Virgin Records has launched a tablet app that chronicles the labels 40 years. Introduced by Virgin founder Richard Branson, it including a comprehensive video timeline of artists from Mike Oldfield to Emeli Sandé and offers a preview of an innovative way to consume music in a more immersive way.
Created by new digital music and creative technology agency, playDEF music, the incorporates Virgin Records’ six triple retrospective compilation CDs, with track-by-track information, digital sleevenotes and artwork from the music’s original release period. Users can stream the music on Spotify or purchase and play in-app via iTunes now.
playDEF Chairman Steve Lewis has a rich history with Virgin. “I met Richard Branson when we were both teenagers and I ran Virgin companies for many fun filled years,: says Lewis" I’m delighted that playDEF’s first release is an app which tells the story of Virgin and in a suitably innovative way.
