Video Tools: YouTube Adds Comments Manager, Vimeo Upgrades Player & More
More changes in the ever-changing world of the web. YouTube is addressing some of its Google+ commenting madness with a new comments manager. Vimeo has upgraded its video player, both on and offsite, and added a clear link for video sales. Vine has introduced some small but significant features to make it a bit easier to shoot what you want. And Horizon is a new iOS app that puts all your videos in landscape mode so you don't have to think about it.
YouTube Adds Comments Management Page
YouTube's recent efforts to connect to Google+ with a new commenting system were incredibly poorly received. People that were managing comments via YouTube email lost that capacity among other changes that didn't seem to be based on user needs.
Instead, YouTube has added a comments management page which can be accessed via your dashboard under "Community." This should speed up the process a bit and hopefully improve things for YouTube video creators.
Vimeo Launches New Player, Adds Buy Links
Vimeo has launched a new video player. They describe it in an unembeddable video (what's up with that?) or I'd share that with you.
Supposedly it loads twice as fast on or off Vimeo and the time it takes from pushing play to playing has also been cut in half.
They're also adding links within the player to Vimeo On Demand, a much needed feature given that that's how you sell videos on Vimeo.
