The Beatles: Eurythmics Reunion, iTunes Exclusive, Audio Demo Car
The 50th anniversary Beatles iconic arrival in America on February 7, 1964 followed by their appearance on Ed Sullivan February 9 is being commemorated in a variety of ways from a Grammy special to the complete reissue of The Beatles U.S. releases. Now the Grammy special has helped inspire a Eurythmics reunion and "The U.S. Albums" are available exclusively on iTunes for digital preorder. On a related note, Abbey Road Studios and Panasonic have teamed up for a unique audio demo Mini Cooper.
A huge music business event occurs with the release of "The U.S. Albums" on January 21st. 13 albums released in the U.S. will be available on CD in a box set and, for a limited time, individually.
Eurythmics Reunite for "The Night That Changed America"
Beatles marketing will continue on February 9 with "The Night That Changed America: A Grammy Salute to the Beatles." Announced performers include Alicia Keys, John Legend, Maroon 5, John Mayer and Keith Urban.
Of special note is a one-time-only Eurythmics reunion performance for this event. Who knows? Perhaps that will lead into something else.
"The U.S. Albums" on iTunes
"The U.S. Albums" are now available on iTunes. According to an official announcement:
"The Mastered for iTunes LP collection, including a 64-page booklet with Beatles photos and promotional art from the time, as well as a new essay by American author and television executive Bill Flanagan, is available now for digital pre-order exclusively on iTunes."
"All of the Mastered for iTunes albums (with the exception of The Beatles’ Story, an audio documentary album) are also available now for individual pre-order on iTunes."
Abbey Road Studios Audio Demo Car
The famous Abbey Road Studios hosted not just The Beatles but many important recording artists of their day and since. However the timing of the unveiling of the Abbey Road Studios Premium Audio Demonstration Vehicle initially made me think it was more directly connected to upcoming Beatles events.
The vehicle is a modified 2014 Mini Cooper Clubman S designed to create an audio environment featuring music recorded at Abbey Road Studios:
"Incorporated into the vehicle are 12 Panasonic automotive speakers and a 12 channel, 580 watt Panasonic automotive amplifier with Panasonic’s unique “Motion Control” feature."
"This one-of-a kind vehicle includes two authentic and revered EMI TG12412 equalizers designed and built by Abbey Road Studio’s in-house Recording Engineering Development Department. The addition of these two special equalizers, used at Abbey Road Studios since the early 1970’s, helps bring out some of the unique sound characteristics present in recordings made at the studios."
"Lastly, listeners can enjoy a selection of the iconic music tracks produced at Abbey Road Studios through the special "Abbey Road Studios Demo Channel" found on Aupeo’s personal radio streaming music service."
Though the Abbey Road auto news is more about the current Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas and the ongoing theme of car audio, get set for a deluge of business-related Beatles news as folks attempt to cash in on the anniversary.
