As WinAmp Goes Offline, Spotify Releases Spotiamp In It’s Honor: “Long live the Llama”
Today is the day that AOL shutters Winamp, one of the oldest and most important pieces of software in the history of digital music. To "honour the engineering skill and passion that goes into building wonderful software that millions of people enjoy" Spotify has released Spotiam, a striped down, but fully functional music player.
Spotiamp is a Windows program that lets you login to your Spotify account and play your playlists. Users can also search for tracks to play, and there's a radio feature. Spotiamp borrows the design of the UI from Winamp. Users must subscribe to Spotify Premium to use the new app.
