"There’s nothing scripted tonight — it’s about anything happening,” YouTube Music Awards co-host Jason Schwartzman said at the start of the show. Unfortunately, not much interesting followed. The presentation often felt disjointed and suffered from frozen video streams and malfunctioning mics. The presenters tried to have fun with the foibles, but at its peak, just 220,000 were live streaming the awards. By contrast, 10.1 million tuned in for August's MTV Music Awards.
