Bandcamp Turns 5, Reports $50 Million To Artists
Bandcamp turns 5 years old this week; and with it comes some rarer stats from the musicuam sales and marketing platform. Bandcamp is reporting that they've paid out $50 million since launch, a number they say is on track double to reach $100 million in the next 18 months,or less because of a recently launched mobile app and "some of the other things we’ve got cooking."
"Even five years in, it still feels like we’ve just scratched the surface of the enormous opportunity in front of us," the Bandcamp team wrote in a blog post today. "That opportunity – to positively impact the lives of millions of artists and their fans – is something we’re incredibly grateful for, and we’re more excited than ever about the work we have planned. Once again, thank you for being a part of it all!"
