London’s YPlan Raises $12 Million For Mobile Event Marketing, New York Launch
London based startup YPlan has raised $12 million from General Catalyst, Wellington Partners, Octopus Investments, Path's Dave Morin, Shakil Khan, and early Facebook employee Kevin Colleran. The company will use the funds to expand it's last minute event app internationally, including a New York City Launch later this year.
YPlan users
buy last minute tickets near their location and plan the outing with friends. 200,000 in London have downloaded the app.
$12 million may seem an over sized investment for a new location based startup, but analysts see YPlan as part of an exploding sector of transactional, mobile-first companies like Uber and Hotel Tonight.
