PledgeMusic Officially Launches In Canada, Sponsors Free Mixtape For Canadian Music Week
Canadian Music Week kicks off Tuesday in Toronto featuring the Canadian Music Fest and a bunch of other festivals, conferences and special events. PledgeMusic is participating in multiple ways with its official Canadian launch and sponsorship of this month's free mixtape from The Coffee Shop Project featuring Audio Blood artist clients.
Canadian Music Week 2013 takes place March 19 through 24 in Toronto with music, comedy and film festivals, conferences on digital media, music and radio plus a variety of awards programs, events and tradeshows.
Candian Music Fest features live performers not solely from Canada but this is obviously a great opportunity to celebrate Canadian music.
PledgeMusic Officially Launches in Canada
PledgeMusic is participating with an official launch in Canada where they've already seen some successful campaigns:
"The Canadian artists that we have worked with have had an amazing performance against other territories so far with a 100% success rate. Their fans seem to be engaged and we are excited to be a part of a music scene that we have long admired from afar."
Benji Rogers informed me via email that, in early campaigns, the average Canadian fan spent $67 per transaction as opposed to $55 in the States. That's a sizable difference. It will be interesting to see if that changes as more musicians employ the platform but it's another reminder that D2F campaigns employing fanfunding techniques are a powerful force.
The Coffee Shop Project Releases Free Mixtape
PledgeMusic is also supporting the latest release from The Coffee Shop Project. This interesting promotional effort was started by Audio Blood in 2011.
Audio Blood describes itself as a "full-service artist and brand development company." The Coffee Shop Project is a way to promote bands, sometimes individually and sometimes in compilations, often with participating sponsors.
Coffee Shop Project stands with free download cards are available at participating coffee shops in Toronto. PledgeMusic is sponsoring this month's picks and you can go to their site to download the music whether you've gotten a card this month or not.
This month's featured artists are all clients of Audio Blood that are performing during Canadian Music Week. The company has an interesting backstory having begun as an online magazine back in 2006.
Sounds like a great way to connect with Canadian musicians while the glow of SXSW rapidly fades into the sunset.
