Hypebot Presents The Upward Spiral Podcast: Episode 5 [LISTEN]
Hypebot presents the fifth episode of The Upward Spiral Podcast, an ongoing discussion of the new music industry featuring Kyle Bylin of Live Nation Labs (and former Hypebot Editor), music industry consultant Jason Spitz (Former Director of Marketing at Topspin), and Hypebot's Hisham Dahud (also of Fame House). They launched the podcast as a platform for conversations about the issues that face artists and music professionals.
In this episode, Jason and Kyle are joined by Katonah Coster from the digital marketing company Fame House, stepping in for Hisham while he attends The Agenda Show in New York City.
This week marks the one-year anniversary of Spotify's arrival in the United States, and Jason leads a discussion about how Spotify has changed listening habits for music consumers and the marketing strategies for musicians. Kyle then floats the idea of "present-shock" and asks whether the industry's perspective has shifted from "What next?" to "What now?"
All this plus news on Nimbit, LiveNation Labs, and Def Leppard. Stick around til the very end for some Chumbawumba!
