Echo Nest Adds Songkick Concert Data To API
Data from top live music information source Songkick is now available as part of The Echo Nest's Rosetta Stone music intelligence platform. The Echo Nest recently announced a similar concert data sharing deal with Songkick competitor Jambase.
Using the Rosetta Stone API, developers can call up elements from a variety of sources to include in apps, connecting artists with songs and data on services like Spotify, Rdio, Twitter, Facebook, LyricFind, Musixmatch and others including Songkick. After the sites controlled by concert and ticketing giant Live Nation, Songkick is the second most popular destination for live music on the web.
"The majority of Songkick’s team are developers passionate about making concert-going easier, so investing in our API and developer community is a priority for us," said Ian Hogarth, Songkick CEO and co-founder. "We’re really excited about the range of awesome apps built on top of Songkick's data at Hack Days around the world so far and hope this integration with The Echo Nest leads to many more people seeing what they can build with our data."
Songkick aggregates concert information from 70 countries and distributes to a network of partners including Bandcamp, foursquare, MTV, VEVO, Warner Music Group and YouTube through their API. The company is backed by Sequoia Capital, Index Ventures and Y Combinator.
