SoshiGames’ Music Festivals Game For Facebook Seeks Established & Unsigned Artists

Music-festivals SoshiGames' Music Festivals Facebook game, originally expected this summer, is now due for full launch in December. In great news for musicians, the game is intended to feature music discovery and Soshi Games is looking for both established and unsigned artists to be featured in the game.

Early Design of SoshiGames' Music Festivals Game

The Music Festivals game for Facebook from SoshiGames is still in an early development stage so instead of a site review I'd like to share some basic information about the game including opportunities for musicians to be featured.

Here's the basic concept:

"Build and manage your very own festival, stream your favourite bands' music from your festival's stages, discover new music according to your tastes and visit your friend's festivals and help them out. Book in unsigned acts onto your stages and earn karma points, or go crazy and put your dream line-up on at your festival."

If you want to get a look at the work in progress, you can apply to be a beta tester or just check out the video above for an even earlier version of the in-game action.

At this stage, the big news is that artists can have a presence in the game that includes preview clips and music sales. Unsigned artists will initially be included via 7digital but the real opportunity is to be featured on the unsigned artists stage. Established acts have the opportunity to have branded stages and in-game items.

A FAQ for bands and artists includes contact info and more details for signed and established acts as well as an explanation of the process for unsigned and emerging artists:

"For phase 1 – if your music is on 7digital.com – please tell us who you are and point us to some of your tracks as well as to show us that you have some evidence of a social fan base. Technically your music is then already available in the game however it is unlikely that most players will seek it out as you/your band is by definition ‘unknown’. If we decide it fits with our criteria we will select you/your band to be one of up to 50 featured acts on a dedicated virtual unsigned stage for a period of time."

While it can be difficult to judge such opportunities on new platforms, given the addictive nature of games like Farmville, there's a strong possibility that Music Festivals will be a great marketing tool. And that makes it well worth considering, especially for new and emerging artists.
