SOL Republic Brings High Performance Headphones to the Masses
A new audio company called SOL Republic has launched a new line of headphones that aims to deliver innovation in sound, style, and durability while making their product accessible to virtually all music fans.
Longtime senior executive of Monster Cable, Kevin Lee, is one of three co-founders behind SOL, which is an acronym for “Soundtrack Of Life.”
“Music provides the soundtrack for every memory and for the profound and everyday moments in your life,” Lee said. “Today, that means engineering great-sounding, fashionable headphones and creating a community dedicated to music experiences.”
After witnessing the success of Beats, Lee wanted to bring high performance sound to an audience that normally isn't willing or capable of spending $300-$400 for a pair of headphones. The product is targeted towards fans of rock/pop/hip-hop that prefer to listen to their music on laptops and mobile devices. These listeners tend not to be overly concerned with an ultra-realistic representation of sound, yet still demand clarity and performance.
SOL Republic also brings customization to the mix. The company is the first to develop an interchangeable on-ear headphone with their “Tracks” model. It features swappable headbands, speakers and cables in various colors, designs and performance – all suited to match the listener’s personal style of music and desired performance. The headbands themselves are virtually indestructible; resulting from a new polymer they’ve coined “FlexTech.”
“It’s time for all music fans to own a headphone with great sound and style that can withstand the realities of everyday use,” continued Lee.
SOL Republic's “Tracks” on-ear headphones start at $99.99, while the in-ear “Amps” start at $59.99. Expect to see them nationwide at consumer electronics and specialty retail stores by late August.
