Best Buy Soft Launches Music Cloud Service
Best Buy soft launched a new cloud music service on Monday and three days after we broke the story, the Music Cloud service is still not fully fuctional. Like Apple's announced iTunes Match, this licensed service works on a scan and match basis, avoiding large transfer of files to the cloud. Even though retail giant has not made a formal announcement, a Best Buy Music Cloud app can already be downloaded at Google’s Android store. More Details:
The Best Buy Music Cloud service is powered by California based Catch Media which is compatible with iOS, RIM's BlackBerry and Android smartphones. Catch CEO Yaacov Ben-Yaacov told Businessweek that his company made the licensing deals for Music Cloud, including agreements with major record labels, according to Ben-Yaacov.
Th unfinished Music Cloud site implies that there will be a free lite version and paid pro version with more features and storage. Best Buy offered some additional details in a blog post here.
