image from upload.wikimedia.org CNET has a posted a fascinating round-table discussion between MP3tunes CEO Michael Robertson and reporter Greg Sandoval. It starts off talking about Robertson's new venture DAR.fm and quickly shifts into the future of Pandora and subcription music. Some of the points made are well-known, but it's quite interesting to watch the two go back in forth here. Watch the video:

  1. Correct me if I am wrong when the “info supa hwy showed up it was
going to kill the CD outright.
SO….. After 15 plus years of hearing that physical music is DOA
becz of the intertubes. Why is physical product still the
OVERWHEALIMG majorty of music goods sold. Take this little
    quote………
“Nearly three-quarters of U.S. music sales in 2010 were in the form of
discs, according to Tom Silverman, a board member of the Recording
Industry Assn. of America. Among some genres, the percentage of CD
sales is even higher — 93% of Latin, 85% of gospel and 84% of country
    records were physical discs.” http://t.co/ScnBm52
FYI Vinyl great from .07 to 1.3 in O9, According to the same source
that gave them that data Soundscan. IMHO when the 10 number come out
that will be higher say 1.5 percent.
Again, When did the fan say give me my music in only one format.
Sure the chains and majors may go away! Independents are just those
kind of folk that like to stick around and just do it.
So 2 the Mom & pop retailers reading this hope is a catalog away and
some cloud-chop suey-crowdsourcing for geo centric data mining.
btw I gotta go buy a book at store and 15 years from now I still being doing it.
