Talib Kweli: “It’s Over… We ‘re At The Wake” Of The Music Industry [VIDEO]
Talib Kweli relased his latest, Gutter Rainbows, as digital-only. "The CD is dead," Keli tells MTV News. "The music industry doesn’t exist….when you have records that are being played 3,000 times on radio but you can’t sell albums? So, for the disconnect to be that huge, that means it’s over.” Watch:
It was over when Andre Benjamin retired.
Its over when you are a rapper with bags under your eyes like that. Back to the bookstore time.
Yeah, well those bags are named Rawkus and Warner Bros…he’s earned the right to make this call, he’s watched the industry die in real time over the past decade of his career.
I mean, you can make snarky cracks all you want (in fact you’re legally obligated to do that on Teh Internets) but the numbers he’s talking about are staring us in the face every day.
justin, your absolutely correct, he has earned the right. and even if his numbers are right or wrong. his assessment is very on point. do you know there are still people that believe there are weapons of mass destruction in iraq. these are the same people that believe the music industry will find its way back to the good old glory days. this is a mental disorder called, STUCK ON STUPID, and they have not found a cure for it. the day of reckoning is upon the music industry, rather the idiots choose to see it or not.
