Dominique Leguern will be stepping down as the director of music industry mega-conference ir MIDEM after its 2011 edition. No word yet on who will replace Leguern though a search is underway.
Leguern said in a statement that she had been "proud to lead MIDEM and MidemNet during a period of significant transformation of the music industry and expressed confidence that MIDEM will "continue to be an essential gathering for the international music community." Leguern had been appointed director of MIDEM in 2000 and helped create MidemNet, the digital music and music tech sub-conference. The 2011 edition of Midem will run from Jan. 23-26 in Cannes.
"Dominique's passion, knowledge and understanding of the music industry have been enormous assets for MIDEM and our company," Reed MIDEM CEO Paul Zilk said in a statement. "Under her stewardship, MIDEM and MidemNet have successfully anticipated the ever-changing needs of the business in the face of the many challenges it has experienced during the past decade," Zilk went on to say.
