KIN + Zune: Microsoft Joins Music Cell Phone Fray
Microsoft has jumped into the crowded cell phone market with the KIN – a Windows mobile phone aimed straight at the always on, social networked, music consuming youth market. Expect a May release via Verizon in the U.S. and Vodaphone in Europe.
The KIN fully integrates the Zune platform for music, video, FM radio and podcasts. With a Zune Pass subscription. users can stream or download from the Zune Marketplace or side-load from their PC. The Zune PC software also offers media synchronization so a personal collection of music, pictures and select films can be purchased once and played via PC, Zune, Xbox LIVE or KIN.
