iLike Adds Custom iPhone Apps Plus Twitter, Ticketmaster, YouTube & MySpace Integration
Some of these digital tools can be found elsewhere, but iLike is offering them in a free, integrated and easy to use package which when combined with its existing iGoogle,
Facebook, hi5, Bebo and Orkut apps, creates a must-use toolbox for any indie musician or label. New features include:
- iPhone Apps: Quickly create and distribute their own iPhone app with concert dates, photos, blogs, bulletins, and
videos. The self-service system allows artists to customize the look of their app and submit it to the iTunes App Store. (Watch a demo) - Twitter: Link and artist's iLike and Twitter accounts adding “tweets” to the iLike music feed and profile as well as their Facebook page; and when a new song, video, or concert listing is posted, iLike will notify fans via Twitter.
- YouTube: Sync an artist's YouTube channel and iLike account. Every video posted to iLike can automatically be posted to a YouTube channel, and vice versa.
- MySpace: Enhance the concert listings on MySpace pages via a widget that adds buy inks and allows fans to “RSVP” and see who else is going. Artists can also configure the iLike Artist Dashboard so that any blog, bulletin, or video posted on iLike is also added to MySpace.
Dashboard will also appear on the artist’s page on Ticketmaster.
iLike continues to syndicate content for 300,000 artists to more than 45 million music fans via its own site and iLike apps on iGoogle, Facebook, hi5, Bebo, Orkut plus plugins for iTunes and Windows Media Player. You can access the new features here.
The iPhone app from iLike is not free, I have confirmed with their PR office, they charge a $99 set up fee at the end of the app creation process…
iLike Story Clarification:
I led readers to believe that all of its new serviced were free. The two things iLike charges for from yesterday’s announcement are the iPhone app and the premium stats service ($99 per year each). Also, anyone (artists, labels, promoters) can choose to buy a self-serve concert promotion ads from iLike. – Bruce
Hi Bruce,
It’s understandable why the service might be construed as free, for what ever reason iLike decided not to publicise the fee until you had signed into your dashboard (where the free services are) and went through the app creation process. Only at the end of the app creation process are you hit with a request for the $99 fee, iLike have said they will make the fees more transparent, Nat Brown from iLike’s PR office told me yesterday they regret not making it clearer, you can read her comments at my blog http://mymusicsuccess.blogspot.com
