So Todd Rundgren suggests that music should be like cable and that users should pay $10/month to listen to as many songs or as few songs as they wish. Just like many of the current streaming models, I can see how it benefits the streaming company but I don’t understand why any songwriter would think this is a good idea. How would any revenue be allocated? If they track the plays at all to determine which songs are the most played, then they should be able to track all the songs played and pay each songwriter accordingly.
